Re: Quickie From Moab

Sounds like you had a great trip!

Keep us updated on the "morning roar."

Re: E-Locker in high range

I've returned from dinner.

I'll let you know how everything turns out. Also, I'll try to find out if parts are forthcoming from AmStar.

Re: E-Locker in high range

I don't know where I came up with Vistar. Here's what I wrote in my article:

"The big news is that AM General and Tecstar have joined together to form AMSTAR, a company dedicated to building...

Re: E-Locker in high range

I was talking about the people who sent hate mail to the magazine, not anyone here.

GM has been very hard to deal with regarding off-road issues and off-road equipping their vehicles. It's as if...

Re: E-Locker in high range

As I understand it, they'll be selling from their website, too. I'm not a real big fan of dealers.

I don't work for those people, so pardon me, but I don't understand why we got the hate mail, nor...

Re: E-Locker in high range

They're keeping quiet about what they're going to do to install the E-Locker. I'll let everyone know what's up after the H3 returns.

I wrote a feature about AmStar a few months ago in Off-Road. ...

Re: E-Locker in high range

My H3 is going back to Indiana for the front E-Locker and some prototype AmStar stuff. It will be gone during that time. I guess it will have to be another time for me.

I know everyone will have a...

Re: E-Locker in high range

I like the way the H3 incorporates the TCS and StabiliTrak, too. When I'm driving in slippery or weird conditions on the road, it's great. It's also great to be able to defeat the TCS and StabiliTrak...

Re: E-Locker in high range

Lots of reasons. High speed sand or snow bashing, for example. Also, when exploring off-road, there's many times when we're in high range and don't really need to go into low, but could use a...

Re: Quickie From Moab

Like Deserth3 said, it's the viscous fan clutch. The "racing" is your fan engaged.

Have a great time in Moab. If you get to the other side of the state, near Zion N.P., let me know. I'll take you...

E-Locker in high range

Has anyone figured out how we can get our rear E-Locker to work in high range?

Thanks.

Re: Did the torsion today

Like Drew asked, does anyone know what we should torque the shackle bolts to?

Thanks!

Re: Did the torsion today

I received my replacement leaf pack today. While the part number matches, the RPN is 1416, which doesn't match anything. Obviously, the RPN isn't a left-right number stamp like I thought. It's...

Re: Did the torsion today

My torsion bars are marked "L" and R", too, and are on the correct sides.

I looked at some new H3s on the trip I just returned from and found that every one I looked at had the leaf springs marked...

Re: Did the torsion today

I dropped the gas tank skidplate and sure enough, there was a clearance groove molded into the tank so the spring bolt could be easily removed. I swapped the springs, which were indeed marked...

Re: Did the torsion today

I just found out that the gas tank skidplate can be dropped without the gas tank coming with it and the tank has a molded clearance groove to remove the spring hanger bolt. Cool! I'll let you know...

Re: Did the torsion today

Oops. It's not as "easy" as I thought. To get the left hand spring hanger bolt out you have to drop the gas tank. Does anyone have access to a service manual? I'd hate to drop it and break...

Re: Did the torsion today

Mine is lower a full inch on the left in back and .75" in front. I cranked the left torsion bar 2.5 turns and it equalized the front, but the rear still sits .5" lower on the left. Obviously, the...

Re: TracRite?

The front's an AAM 7.25. While the Stabilitrak doesn't need it, I would think the traction control system would, as it could preload the diff with the computerized braking, just like we can preload...

Thanks! I'm sure I'm going to have a great time with the H3.

Hopefully someone can give me an answer . . .

TracRite?

Hi. I just brought home my new '06 Boulder Grey H3 with Adventure and Lux packages.

As you all know, I have the E-Locker in the rear. Is there a TracRite helical gear posi up front? Also, when...
