Free side steps

I traded in my H3 and neglected to include the side steps I had taken off for some recent off-roading. They are the long, black, extruded aluminum kind. Free to anyone in the Puget Sound area...

Re: Get your Predator V-8 H3!!

Might be worth it just to blow by a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, either on or off road, for half the price.

Re: Which OPTIMA battery to use?

Conventional batteries don't like to be dishcarged very deeply. That will shorten their life considerably. Yellow top is a "deep-cycle" battery which is designed to be allowed to discharge deeper...

Re: Which OPTIMA battery to use?

Yes, I had to trim the back two tabs to about half their original width. I did make a modification so the strap would be snug. I didn't modify the puck, though. I suppose that might be a good way...

Re: H3 in-dash computer installed

Right, I have it set to go into standby when the accessory power is off. So when starting up, it only takes a couple seconds for music to start playing. I installed an Optima Yellow Top deep cycle...

Re: H3 in-dash computer installed

Thanks. Yes, I monitored the temps from the LCD for a while, but now I don't, to reduce clutter. I went on a long trip on a 100 deg. day and it seemed fine. I noticed it does get quite warm behind...

Re: H3 in-dash computer installed

Mark, good to see you're still slumming it over here in the H3 section ;) I was keeping an eye out for your new rig at the Cabin Creek Hummer Happening, but didn't spot it. Were you there?

Re: H3 in-dash computer installed

Not if you get it at Pep Boys ;)

I lost track of the cost, but if I did it right from the beginning I'd say a little over $2k. Alas, I bought a lot of wrong or uneeded stuff. I also...

H3 in-dash computer installed

I thought folks here might be interested in a little project I've been working on for a while to replace my head unit with a computer to handle music, nav, camera duties and more.

Some of the...

Re: Which OPTIMA battery to use?

I just installed a 34/78 Optima Yellow Top. Although the specs say it is 10" long, it is only 9.5" at the base. And the rounded nature of the cylinders gives even a little more leeway. Each side...

Re: diesel

GM seems to be putting all their foreign-oil-independent eggs in the E85 basket, but here in WA we don't have a single public E85 station. We do have quite a few biodiesel stations already and much...

Re: Child car seat suggestions for the H3?

We're expecting our first one in March. After much research we picked up the Chicco Cortina travel system. The travel system seemed like a good idea so that we could transfer the baby from the car...

Re: Pioneer AVIC-Z1 Install

I'm a little confused, probably because I don't have a Z1 to look at. I'm assuming when you say "speaker wires" you are talking about the output of the Z1's built in 4x50W amp, and "amp wires" are...

Re: Aftermarket NAV in my new H3

Wait a tick... Fstop are you saying you can adjust your onstar volume with the Z1's volume conrol? I recently got the Peripheral GMAH24 and am looking at the schematic. It looks like the way it...

Will these work?

I found these small audiophile amp kits. I think I could fit 2 in the dash easily, but they are only 25 wpc peak (10-15 RMS???).

Question is, would these...

Re: Where's a good place to stick an amp?

Yeah, I thought of that, that's why I changed the title from my original one, "Where can I stick my amp?" :D

Re: Where's a good place to stick an amp?

I do have the Monsoon. I also have the power seats, so I noticed if someone were to lower them all the way, it gets awfully tight. Also, much of the area underneath the seat is taken up by the AC...

Where's a good place to stick an amp?

I'm going to be putting in a new head unit that will require an amp for the stock door speakers. It won't be real powerful... maybe 50 watts/ch. I figure the dash area would be most convenient...

Thule hitch bike carrier

I just picked up the Thule 998XT - Trailblazer hitch-mounted bike carrier. Thought I would share since it's not easy finding a carrier that clears the spare tire and allows access to the cargo area...

Aha! This sounds exactly like what's been driving me nuts. It's definately a squeaky styrofoam sound from the driver's door. Except I get it all the time on any road that isn't perfectly smooth. ...

Re: It's Official - 0% Financing

I got the 0% 60 months combined with GMID price. I was worried about that too, so I specifically asked if the new program would mean an increase over the GMID sale price we previously agreed to, and...
