Re: My H1 HMC4 in LIMA PERU

Wow, very cool. I assume you have a power inverter in there? If so, what size (wattage) and where did you mount it? How did you route the wiring?

1998 HMC4s are the best. :D

Re: manual for 1999 H1

The paper copies have been out of production for some time now, but you can still get the DVD version from AM General. Lynch HUMMER can order one for you, but it'll run $400+.

Re: Flat

Are you sure you have an H1? They use regular style lug nuts, never heard of them using locking ones, even on a spare. As for the flat tire, you have to undo the CTIS connections, which is usually...

Re: My H1 HMC4 in LIMA PERU

Nice truck! Is that a 97 or a 98? Also, you are missing the center caps for the wheels, but I'm sure you knew that. Probably just easier without 'em, right?

Re: need some help from the H1 people on here

Actually, there are some that made it into non-government hands with clear and clean titles that are good to go. They range from 1985 to about 1989 (?) year models. After that is when the...

Re: Please help. Buying a hummer h1 tomorrow

OEM A/C compressor alone is worth about $400, if not more. Then throw in labor to evac/recharge A/C and add on $75 more there. The belt can be cross referenced for $25 at most, and the tensioner...

Re: H1 strange noise

The noise could be a half-shaft problem. Could also be a differential problem.

As for the check engine light, it may or may not be related. Only way to know for sure is to pull the code! Not...

Re: H1 Alpha - Buying one in June

I know of a tan (metallic sand) wagon in So Cal, with 33k miles. It's a wave 2 (black on black interior), great shape. $104.9K.

Re: WTB soft top for H1

Might want to post what year it will go on, since the pre 98s were different. It might have been the 97.5s where the change was made... In fact, I have no idea since I don't own a soft top, just...

Re: New to this and need some input

Where are you/the truck located? You might be able to get someone on here to go with you to inspect it, show you what to look for, etc.

Not telling you to buy it, but if you do I have my OEM...

Re: 1996 Hummer HMCS

A 1996 can either be a gas or diesel (and it could be naturally aspirated or turbo). It could have CTIS or not. It could have signs of abuse or it could have been a street queen, or somewhere...

Just saw this on ebay. Appears to be a new, Stanadyne PMD w/ harness and gasket.

Bidding starts at $129 or buy it now for $139.

Re: Maintenance

FYI I've been using a DTech that is remote mouted since last spring, and it's been running just fine. DTech has recently been in the news as having a superior PMD compared to the Stanadyne. Also,...

Re: Maintenance

Perhaps your PMD is acting up on you as well? PMDs can go bad as you are describing. When mine failed I had no previous warning, my truck wouldn't fire up one day. I had normal voltage, glow plugs...

Re: Maintenance

No idea why it went dead... but I bet you definitely overfilled by at least half a quart.

The TDs use 7.5 quarts, not the full 8. Also, how long did you let it drain?

Re: 1997.5 H1

The VIN! .......76477 and up are 97.5s!

From Lynch's site:
The first "1997.5" has a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of VE176477 (last 8 digits). Changes for 1997.5 included a much improved HVAC...

Re: Heater Core (Oh Sh^t)

Blow torch baby. Heat the bolt head up and you should be able to remove normally. I did that for two on mine.

Re: Heater Core (Oh Sh^t)

BTW, it can be bypassed relatively easily, too. But being that you are in VA, you'll probably need your heater soon.

Re: Heater Core (Oh Sh^t)

There is no parts cross reference for the heater core; it is made only for us. I bought mine from Dave Breggin for I believe $388. You'll also need a few gaskets/seals. Since you have to drain the...

Re: alpha cruising speed??

I drove 55 mph on the highway in my 98. I know some guys that will cruise up to about 65, but that's about the highest you should cruise at in a stock 6.5L TD.

If you want to go fast on the...

Re: Picking up a nice used H1 2001 36,000

Just because you have a "Z" engine, it doesn't mean it wasn't replaced. Call Lynch HUMMER. They can tell you if the engine was possibly replaced.
