Line-X is an interesting idea but I'm not sure how compatible the spray is with beds that have lots of moving parts like ours do. Guess you could just spray the bottom?

IMO the real benefit to the bed mat is that it cushions lashed-down gear. When I'm offroad I carrry a metal toolbox and an old cooler full of straps, shackles and other stuff and I've never had anything shift or get damaged. Never even heard the toolbox rattle.

A less expensive mat option can be found at Home Depot or Lowes. They sell 4'x4', 3/4" thick floor mats that have holes in them and are easily cut to fit. $25. I bought a couple for my roof and bed racks -- they work like a champ and protect the racks' powdercoat from metal gear. No doubt they would do the same for the bed floor.
