I just talked to the dealer again about the cracks. If you get the plastic rail replaced now, you will see the same cracks in a couple months. The rails need redesigned but will not be availabe until May. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Any ideas on whether there might be any water issues (leaks) with keeping the cracked rails until a fix comes? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
No, I have had a set removed from a H3 we have in the back shop. It has an open channel that runs down the inside, that I considered for a CB antenna. I was advised not a good idea since the channel allows water for flow through, and a cable might prevent water runoff.
The side rails are not sealed to the roof for water intrusion. Water will get in their with or without the cracks.
