Doubt it. H3 builder can answer that. However, when I was in Spring Hill we did some testing on shipping with the protective covering and found out the end warranty cost was the same. The dealer during PDI should check for rail dust, they know which of their vehicles come by rail. If rail dust is apparent, they are two remove it using one of two different approved methods. One, clay bar the horizontal surfaces, or two, use Oxalic acid. Oxalic acid will not affect the paint, but will dissolve metal particles.
The dealer gets paid for either of these rail dust removal methods.
I just confirmed mine has rail dust. For the first time I washed it today, and there were some "rusty" looking spots, and my clay bar removed them quite easily.
Should I have taken it back to the dealer? Yes, but it is a heck of a lot easier for me to remove these small particles.
