Swampers don't wear as well as the MT/Rs or BFGs, from what I've read. A while ago, someone posted a good comparison of the 37" mud tires - wear vs capabilities in mud vs rock, etc. I can't find it tho. Here's a previous rundown of some of the tires - if you search for "tires" you can come up with a ton of discussions from people who have owned the different kinds on the market.

I have the MT/Rs. I bought them last summer for $255 each, but they took a lot of work on the part of my sales guy to get them (I bought them through Discount Tire - price included mounting and balancing). From what I've heard, the shortage is still there. I've found the tires to be exceptional in the mud, about the same as stock on rock (but then again, it was wet rock), better on pavement than the ATs in wet conditions, and a bit noisier on the road - but not overpowering. The truck handles a bit looser, but I think it's a good trade-off.
