You're DS light should point exactly straight at the most, but should point inboard some.
Aligning the lights depends upon the bulbs/buckets. The light spreads are different anytime you make a change. Used a little pen laser to "gauge" the angle of mine on the garage wall and then backed further and further away from the wall to see how the hot/cold spots were.
I then when onto a flat dark street to check it out compared to the road surface (how far down they are shooting, how much light loss, if it would be blinding the oncoming traffic) And made adjustments accordingly.
