I had the same problem until some wise soul mentioned Power Toys.
Click on this
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p.../powertoys.asp and scroll down the right side to ImageResizer.exe.
After you download this, everytime you right click on an image, your drop down menu will offer "Resize Pictures". Pick the smallest, then you can delete the original and attach the new one.
If I can do it, anyone can.
