I did my first oil change at approximately 1400 miles and stuck with conventional oil. Yesterday, with 5000 miles on the odometer I switched over to Mobil 1 synthetic and plan to change it every 5000 miles. It might be a little overkill but like someone else said it is cheap insurance to keeping you engine running like new.
