Go to the ziebart website, it can better explain what the coat is. Its a "Proprietary Technology", whatever that means. There is an upkeep, you go in once a year and they reapply the coat for a price alot cheaper than the initial cost. So far it seems to be working, it has been easier to keep clean and its adds a real good shine to the paint. I also had the rust protection done, which is a good idea in this part of the country with all the road salt in the winter.
