Going through the same issue myself.
BFG mt - can't get 'em
MTR - don't like 'em...noisy as they wear...very hard
Super Swampers/Mickey Thompsons/IROCs/etc... - too hard core for the street
Nitto Mud Grapplers - too noisy
Toyo MTs - perfect for me but nobody can get 'em and as timco pointed out...they're 13.5s
So after searching far and wide on this board and others, I think I'm gonna go with the PJ Dirt Grips. They kick ass off road, are well mannered on road, great in snow, and are relatively cheap at around $250/tire.
I hear they're hard to balance but I have a good shop here that I'm sure will manage it fine. Treadwear is supposedly average at best but if I can get over 20k on them I'll be happy. I've been waiting for friggin 50k miles for these damned BFG ATs to wear down enough to justify replacement.
