Generally from a financial view point it is smarter to by a cheaper car with no miles than a more expensive car with miles. However, finacnial decisions are relative to ones income and assets. As things get older you will have repair bills. Even new cars have repair bills but these are taken care of by warranties.
I see where your wife is coming from. I have never driven an H3 but have been inside one. The spaciousness of the H2 is very nice and the ride is SOO comfortable. But then again i would trade my H2 for a 30mpg ferrari either.
