As soon as it arrives I'm swapping out my base radio with a OEM 6 disc with XM that I bought from a member here. my question is, if by chance the radio enables the security when I install it, how do I unlock it without taking it to the dealer? The dealer said it would cost about $50 to unlock it if it should happen. they said they haven't had any come in yet. Thoughts? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

You have to got to the dealer anyway to program the radio to the internal LAN system in the vehicle.
The security system on the H3 for the radio is the VIN number of the vehicle. When the radio is powered up, it compares the VIN supplied from the BCM, via the class 2 serial data link, with the internal VIN it was coded with. If they don't match, the radio will lock. the only way to unlock is to program the new VIN into the radio with a TECH 2.
This also applies to the XM receiver. So they both have to have the new VINs programmed into them in order to operate in the new vehicle.
