As far as "mass produced" every single rack is hand made/ bent/ welded/ and assembled. That's why they cost a little more. Overpriced? not really. If they were mass produced by some automated machine over seas, than it would be way cheaper and more than likely a cheaper quality as well. I understand you are a design expert king welder and can do this yourself. You should. But if you wanted a custom rack made, how much would it cost you to have something built at this quality level? Quite a bit. It really isn't that expensive when you consider what a nice set of rims cost today.
