VAN EPPS trail -
I took Hwy. 903 North exit 80 from I-90 to Roslyn. (outside of CleElum, WA)
Past Roslyn 903 changes name to Salmon La Sac Road (just East of the lake). This is a nice two lane paved road with beautiful scenary.
It goes a while I think maybe 10 miles.
Name changes again to CleElum Valley Road but I never saw any signs of this change.
Any way, this road continues and drives into a little forest park.
There is a Y in the road and you go right on the Y. This is a gravel road that is fun and goes for a long way.
About 6.7 miles up this road you will turn to the right and enter the official legal marked trails.
There are several other trails that you can drive on but I am not sure if they are legal so I just stayed clear of those.
Sounds difficult but actually it was pretty easy to find.
The trails wind back and forth for a while at least an hour of off-roading one way. Although some parts are tight you could still drive through. I wouldn't recommend going if you are not comfortable in driving in some tight places or ocassionally having pine needles brush against you. If I were in an H2 I might worry about sharp turn radiuis but it can be done.
The drive on the paved roads is worth it also. The trees are changing colos and the cliffs are amazing, there is a dry river bed or maybe lake that has hundreds of stumps in it. Cool stuff.
