I think your cracks are more of a result of the angle of the glass than it's ability to flex under the pressure of a rock strike. One thing I have noticed twice since I have had my H2 is that a rock struck my windshield after being flung from my one of my own front tires. I then began to notice on gravel roads that the front tires slings rocks forward of the rig from time to time.
I am going to apply a plastic laminate on the outside of the windshield once I replace it and see if it will help any. I have spoken to the manufacturer of a laminate and they don't suggest applying it to the outside of a windshield but they are interested in me giving it a try to see how it stands up and to see how well it performs under strikes from debris as well as the constant friction from wipers.
