Hi Ken
We'll try and help Him all We can. We just played around with the tune that came in the predator. I do not know if Ours was newer than yours. We did not even Use the tune that got sent to Us. We would not be able to really tune with ours and also the tune We used most likely it would not work even though they are same rigs because Your heads could have someting as oddball as less bore on them and the one We are dealing with got bored and little more and polished. You cannot apply one tune to another to simply, You can but, I don not like. I went and got a wideband setup so I do not have to use a hand held. With the PC tuning You actually save Your tune and see if it improved if not You pull it back up and run the rig change. The first thing You can try is leaning it out a little more put do it with wideband sensor on a dyno. I have 2 other guys that tune more than I do. We just kept tinkering with it and ended up decent but was able to leave it more rich than We had hoped. A good thing.
The thing I would do if You did not want to add headers which will cause You to spool up allot quicker. But, the advice about the stall speed converter will give You the fast spool but, if You do not want to go into tranny all that I would make sure I put long neck headers on. I would go to a tuning program like HPTUNERS. They got the deal to do the tunes for Magnuson through superchips. Also You could give Allen at Nelson Performance.com a call tell Him Rick sent You as He use to provide the only tune for STS but they decided to go with an hand held so it would be more flexible by having several tunes. I'd tell Allen My problems. I would get more low end pull with long necks than the shorties. I have not looked hard But. We have been pulling a big order for a guy and dynatech is the only long neck We can still find. Have not really looked We just like the Dynatech. I heard one of the other regular header makers is going to go back into building the long neck. I think some are finding out that there are more than Hummers that need the long tube if they are wanting help with low end and right now dynatech seems to have the market to themselves. I run the complete header catback set up and I really like the setup I got. We changed things there also to help but, There only reason We are going to slowly work on speed as there is to be a fastest hummer challenge this summer so I will be running methanol injection with SC and ice buck. We will have possible different heads and nitrous for 2 short stages if it is needed to get up to where We may need to be. But, back to Your situation go back on the dyno and then add headers and do not worry about catback in Your situation as it will not help alot I have been told but, I disagree with. catback with it and then go back and run it again on dyno. You will see it on the dyno.
In fact if anyone wants to see a little more about how there rig is running is by the new G-Tech Pro SS model. It is like haveing a dynno. It will plug into Your computer and You will print out a graph of 1/4 mile 0 to 60 anything. G-tech Pro told Me it is the main unit being used by Nascar rather than buying the $10,000 autometer I think is how it is pronouced He told Me use it it will be within 1/3 of HP of a dyno if You run the test proparly by direction. Equal number of runs into wind and with the wind. But You can read about it most anywhere. BUt, get the one that prints the SS not the RS model.
TAZ
