That thread contains bogus info.

The motors in the Caddy and H2 are itentical in bore and stroke. The intake and for the most part the exhaust are the same. The Caddy has a higher compression ratio and a more aggressive cam profile than the H2 motor. I'm sorry but in my experiance, PCM programming will not give you big HP gains. What it will do is maximize your HP when you make drastic changes to your combination. I am talking about custom programming and not Hypertech. I program chips for C4 Corvettes. The things you tweak are timing advance and you lean out the top end. GM set the wide open throttle settings rich because rich is safe (less chance for detonation). There are some other tricks too. If you increase the compression ratio it will be more prone to detonation and you need to run a higher octane fuel. Same goes for increased ignition timing.

I think the real reason the H2 does not have more power than the Escalade is becasue the Escalse is the flagship SUV from GM. Not the Hummer....sorry. Remember the Escalade slogan? Most powerful SUV on the planet? Of course the Cayanne I think wins that if you consider it an SUV.
