Thanks for the info! I did not do the research like you did. When you feel and touch the door it feels like pot metal. Billet aluminum would have been nice but it does look the same from the outside. I think after all the newness wears off we will see some very affordable pricing on this fuel door. A billet door has to cost more to make! BIG-C

The OEM door is cast aluminum, not metal. It is not CNC machined like the SMA door because GM will not pay for CNC'd parts. He claims that from the outside, you will not tell the difference. The open door is not as pretty because you will see casting marks--GM will not pay to clean that up either.

I have the origional SMA chrome fuel door and will order the OEM one from Hummer-partss.com. Then I will put them side by side and see if the guy is right.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
