No time to really think this through, but I will say that the BCM controls the rear signal lights and park lamps, so something is causing the BCM not to flash. In additon, hard to say what might be wrong without seeing the actual wiring diagram for spliced in connector and the trailer lights. LEDs could be a problem, but not thinking that at this time.
