NORFOLK - Six men have been charged with running an interstate prostitution ring that authorities said operated for nearly three years on the Eastern Shore and catered primarily to Hispanic immigrants.
The operation was based at a brothel in rural Mappsville in Accomack County, but prostitution services also were provided at other, undisclosed locations on the Eastern Shore and in Salisbury, Md., according to a 20-count federal indictment returned this week.
The indictment alleges that the men conspired to "persuade, induce, and entice" prostitutes to travel from one state to another to engage in sexual activity. The women were transported to and from New York and New Jersey, according to the indictment in U.S. District Court....
