Don't have this problem, but could it be an injector ticking versus a lifter? It is noted that after a long hot run, injectors tend to get a bit noisy. Or, the injector may be clogging up due to fuel varnishing; therefore, I run a bottle of Techron through the engine every oil change, which has been around every 5-6K.
