I modifed my garage opening as you're describing. Your door is probably fine/tall enough and a standard 84" Door. I removed one trim piece to gain about 7/8" of clearance. With 37's the stealth rack just clears the weather stripping. I still need to paint the door top that is now exposed, but it turned out nice.
