When connecting why not pig tail and solder or use wire nuts. They are usually better unless in a marine environment...

I think I found my problem. When I spliced two of the purple wires together on the vehicle harness, I think I used a splice connector that was too big for the wires and was not getting a proper connection. Only time will tell but I've got a good feeling about it. Thanks.
When complete a little electrical tape and sometimes a tie wrap to hold it all up and your good to go.
