DAYAMMMM!!!! It was opposite for us! They gave us a nice wedding present to kickstart our new life but after that we were on our own. I remember 12 years ago starting up my first biz and delivering pizzas at night with my wife in the passenger seat slapping me to keep me awake.
But it made my wife and I close, then things got comfy and secure. The in-laws respected me for that.
When the kids were born..............Well...........Let's just say my kids will be well taken care of.

Grandkids are the in-laws biggest weakness.
In Japan, traditionally if you're a dead beat mooch, you are cut out.
