It's not really safe to do anything anymore. I just try to be alert, pay attention to what's going on around me, and know where the exits are... What else can you really do? I try not sit next to trash cans, always have my back against the wall watching the entrance, etc. Gotta be proactive.

Sound like me. Always walk alert with your headup, never carry anything with the right arm, unless necessary, always face the door, keep your eye on the rearview mirror while driving, and keep one in the chamber at all times.
