When I turn the fan from 3-4 highest speed it makes a click and the sound goes away (allthough the fan at that point is so loud I don't think I could hear the grinding. I'm assuming you mean, when you press wash, the wipers are delayed until about 2 ounces have squirted on the window? If so, don't accept "that is normal" from the dealer. It was normal, until a month ago, when a new calibration was released. Tell him to go to TIS2WEB in their service info system, and locate the latest and greatest body control module calibration (program) and install the thing in your Hummer. I did mine last week, and now the wipers come on the minute the washer button is pressed. (Note: Body Control Module in TIS2WEB for the H3 is listed as the truck body module.)
Rattle in headliner, if above the driver's head may be the Onstar Mic wiring harness. If at the center of the headliner in the front, could be the wiring harness for the mirror or sunroof, if you have one.
I love my H3 but so many little annoyances

I've also noticed that I get rocks in the brake pads pretty easily, I used to have this problem on a civic I used to have so I recognized the sound.

Stay off dirt roads....:D
