This "subject" will never just go away. You really need to work on demystifying racism so you can not only understand it, but also desensitize yourself to it to remove its power over you. I have black, Latino, Asian, Eastern European and Middle Eastern friends and we all(without exception) joke with each other using very "politically incorrect" racial terms. We greet each other on the phone with bombs and then laugh at it. When we see each in person, we always shake hands and give buddy hugs.
I'm sure as a child you were taught the old adage, "Sticks & stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me." Modify it and apply it to this.
