Re: I told you!! Something MUST be done
The topic of doing something about all this (being infiltrated and overpowered by our enemies from within) is engaging.
I think first we have to be aware of who the enemy is. We have all been lead to believe that "radical Islam" is different than Islam. This is not the complete truth. Where the clerics rule, is where the most trouble with this religion is found, Iran and previously Afghanistan, (and al Sadar in Iraq). Bin Laden has not been found, even with a $25,000,000.00 dollar reward out for him. Common Muslims believe much of what he preaches. He is not the planner of militant operations for Al Qaeda, but more of the spiritual visionary for them.
Israel is an example, there is no negotiations with Islam. It can be only be one way and the doctrine states that Islam must eventually rule the world. The faithful are faithful in ways we as westerners do not understand. They will not be "bought" (or convinced) with the promise of a better life in America. We are the great Satan.
If you truly believed with all you are, and thought that god called you to kill infidels through Jihad, would you do it? They do, in massive numbers. They have read this and been taught about Jihad from youth. They believe, in spite of all they have seen and learned. Mohammed Atta was college educated, learned to fly, and was capable of flying a commercial jet liner. He lived in America for months, went to bars (and strip clubs) and assimilated into our culture. All with the purpose of killing himself in the process of inflicting damage to his enemy. This enemy of ours is committed and serious.
Many in our culture don't believe this threat is real anymore. They don't think some backward society with all kinds of religious ties is really capable of affecting our massive influence, economy and power in the world. This enemy is more committed and skilled than many of our people realize. Their real strength is the commitment of the believers.
Look what happened in just one day in September, not that long ago. How did our economy, power and influence fare in the ensuing days and months? Look how soon we forget and drop our guard. Why were so many in favor of going into Iraq, while so few admit it now?
There are too many realities that must be denied for our government to just cut and run from the middle east.
Sorry for the long post, I'd like to blame Ken.
