NOT TRUE. GMID is a discount any GM employee can give to anyone; EXCEPT those who qualify for a GMS discount. I have given GMID's to quite a few on this board and not related to any. GMID is the same discount as the a supplier discount. GMS is a GREATER discount than the GMID or GM Supplier discount, since it is for GM employees or their IMMEDIATE family member.
in fact when i got my h3, the dealer initially thought i had the 'family' gmid but when the cert # was punched in to the computer it showed the dealer that i got the supplier discount. again, it's less of a discount than the true gmid, but still great. even the dealers are unsure of which is which -- gms vs gmid -- and what it means until they punch in the number.

I have not the time to read all the threads, but this information and the information you posted earlier is incorrect. As a GM employee who has given out many GMIDs, and GMS to my family members, I do know the differences.
