Can someone explain to me how the air suspension system on the H2 actually works?

Is it designed to "raise" the height of the vehicle, or just to level the vehicle under different loading conditions?

How does the button and the indicator light work? When pressed, the light and the air compressor come on, but then eventually the light goes off again. Is the system always on and the button just a manual reset?
