I paid almost sticker, and haven't looked back. Depending on where you are and when you bought your H3, you may or may not have gotten a good deal. I still see used H3s going for way higher than you would expect for any used car.
As for this, $199 is a good price. The chip for my 325i was something like $299, and that was a chip which is way more of a PITA to install. Go get yourself a shark program and it might be $399 or $499. Buy your own programmer and you are looking at roughly the same cost.
I can completely understand people challenging the effectiveness of these programs. It's justified to make sure this isn't modern electronic snakeoil and to look for dyno results and other potential issues. But to whine about the price, even at $199, shows a complete lack of understanding of aftermarket tuning and the costs that go with it. If you don't want to spend $199 (and I'm not sure I do yet, not because it's not a good deal but because I may not have the $$), then please shut up and stop wasting bandwidth on this forum.
