Just start wheelin (off-roading) the hell out of your Mini. After replacing a few radiators, wheels, tires, and body panels, your dad should get the hint.
That is how I got my first SUV. Sure I had to pay for it, but I needed a co-signer.
By the way, the H3 is a great vehicle, certainly a great hummer for your first.
