Default Re: Extra Cargo Space Rear Door Modification

FIRST pop off the entire lower interior rear door panel for easy access.

brackets are just 2 stout pieces of metal shaped/bent to work like the factory mounting points (which are far to the left, out of this picture). They are attached with small bolts thru 2 holes drilled in the sheet metal. Also in this picture is the original hole that the long jack-screw-bolt went thru, now no longer used.

Here you can see I drilled a new center hole to the LEFT of the original jack-screw-bolt hole. Then simply move the black clip/nut fastener thingy to the NEW center hole as shown here.

NOW, Look back in my first post, the lower left photo shows the three old and three new mounting points. Note that the jack will be flipped 180 degrees to keep the white jack-screw-bolt-knob close to the center of the hatch opening.

notice that a full anifreeze gallon jug fits perfectly in the new space plus a whole lot more, tow strap, quart of oil, WD-40, folding shovel, bow saw, and there is still space for more on top of all that.
