Default Re: Windrock, TN Hummer Trip

Why do all these bumper makers want to bury the winch drum behind sheet metal? If you just want the street queen look just buy a fairlead and bolt it to your bumper. If you really go out wheeling you WILL winch and constant attention to how the cable lays while winching is paramount to safety and functionality and cable life. Even synthetic line needs to lay on the drum evenly. Hopefully they have some kind of removable access cover.
Let's get a trip to Windrock and test that theory!! I really want to make it to Drummond Island, maybe in the fall.
Back a year ago when I got mine I could only find this one at Teaka Toys that had the winch mount attached. It may not be the best set up combo but so far has been good.
Last trip out I winched two H3's up a really bad hill at the end of the day. Two long pulls. The last few wraps after all that got slack and unspooled a little. Rather than mess with it after all that I will pull it out a little and respool before winching again. BUTT, I can see what Im doing!
Sorry, pet peave of mine about access for many years.
