Except for the JK Rubicon, I think hummers need less work to make them trailworthy. But that doesn't explain the lack of bumpers, winch mounts, grill guards and other off-road armor. I also know there's a perception that Hummers are giant bling machines that don't actually go offroad. But mostly, I think Hummer has done a truly

job marketing their off-road capabilities.
First there were the city-slicking kaleidoscopic H3 ads and that god-awful "little monster" superbowl ad ... then a couple of soccer-mom and veggie-dude envy ads ... then those stupid, "it's not magic" ads.
Meanwhile, the JK had that uber-cool insect collection series, and I can't open a 4x4 mag without opening to a full page, brown-paper spec on the FJ's superior capabilities.
