The tonnage doesn't help, however, I lost 40lbs, to a normal weight, and still did it.
The noise isn't a problem. It's very rythmic.
The problem was me getting used to it, always moving around. Sometimes I'd take it off and leave the machine on. That's pretty loud. When the mask is on you, it's very quiet.
