Default Re: Tuning question regarding perf. and mileage

You can get some MPG with a more elaborate tune like HPT. HPT puts the tune in the Superchips handheld now. It is more flexible than any of the other brands in the past. You are never going to get a handheld that will get all out of a tune unless they can package an A/F gauge on wideband at the minimum to be installed to use with programmer and that includes any stock motor. Tuning has nothing to do with having boost or not. That is why a ride comes with a tune from factory and it is set to give factory warranty the most tolerance it can to run gas bought from east to west coast and north to south. It is designed not to cause anymore warranty work than need be. If the factory really wanted to meet EPA mileage issues and stop whining they could push their own factory tunes more. Yet we have to remember there are I do not know how many stinking formulations of gas for different states and different weather. It is going to take something to organize everything if the nation wants to save fuel and it would mean dropping all state rules on formulation for smog and just let a good tight tune make a clean and more powerful explosion then no smog anyway and less gas used. Sounds simple but, OH Well just to logical as well as simple for powers that be.

With you knowing Keith you should be familiar with what he has gotten out of his car with basicly it being stock and running a top HPT tune in it. His car was the guinea pig for the tunes they wrote and tried them first. Three guys just with a good idea but, an even better product. Keith has the headers and external mods etc. but, no supercharger or turbo. No boost at all. Just natural aspiration and tuning for performance. He runs in the 10's and you will most time see that left front wheel off the ground when he launchs at the tree. If you check HPT site often they keep pics and updates if he betters the time etc.

Keith sponsored my H2 for 05 and 06. I still list him as a sponsor when at show and on website in sponsor page, which is being redone Dragon told me, as Keith continues to allow me to get upgrades on my software so I still consider HPT a sponsor. He is a very nice guy and I will continue to list HPT as my sponsor no stopping unless asked for by HPT. Keith is the guy that can really in short order lay down a tune for you that will maximize MPG and perf.

Tell Keith the guy in Arkansas with the H2 he sponsors says HI. I need to call him soon if I do not get to see him in SEMA this fall if I get well enough to go that is. I need some upgrades added to my software that was not available a few years back like 2 and 3 bar density so I can move boost on up to the 14 to 16 lbs. range maybe more with larger aftercooler etc. to go along. Oh, also ask the forum that has been around for years how much I have discussed HPT software since late 2004 early 2005 and until now, they will also testify as to how much I have represented the software and would not do it for all the money in the world if it were not good. Why, because these are my Buds and I answer to them if I'm wrong and with HPT I know I'm not wrong. It is the only I will recommend after trying others and stumbling on to HPT when it was still small time. Keith and the other 2 owners are good guys though. Tell Keith if he needs to yell at me use the email I list on this forum unless he figures out who you are talking about then he even has my cell phone number, home email, and home phone. If he wants a monster supercharged H2 that no other even looks as close to it plus turns out what ever ponies He wants it to when we ge rig to Vegas and he tunes it more. It will make some noise for him and draw the looks just from the rig and the power HPT is putting out. I'm getting requests from some other sponsors but, they are asking for none up to date sponosors be removed and have exclusive use.
I would rather Keith and Chris to know by way of second hand the rig is a monster pics of it are in pic section of this forum or I can send him a photo-bucket link of pics. The rig has just grown and evovled since last pic he had 3 years ago.

Well I would let Keith advise you on tuning your H2. On his website you can download to it or anyone can, a tune you have come up with to share it with other H2 owners or whatever car it is you are tuning. There is a stock tune on the site that you can download for H2 and flash back onto your rig if you do something to lose your stock tune. I have heard it has happened, especially with handheld tuners not HPT at all to my knowledge. HPT makes sure you flash your stock tune before it will let you tune and stores it. I make backup copies of the saved tunes in the HPT software program. The handhelds are supposed to have you save stock tune but, I know of some people who did something to loose the factory tune by not following instructions.

Good Luck and listen to Keith. Oh by the way on my tag at bottom of my responses on form lists some of what I have done and all are sponsors. HPT has been in my signature since early 2005 so no telling how many people have heard about HPT as Keith is always been on me about producing for him in early days and there is no way I can begin to guess how many people I have spread the word of HPT to since late 2004 when things were tight and all sponsors were in an uproar. There is just so much intangible interest that is brought to play who can figure. I bet Keith though has a program that estimates. LOL He is sharp. I give him PROPS.
