The system doesn't check the spare tire. Only the four on the ground. The only warranty claims would be for people who rotate in the spare and have the dealer reprogram the system. Probably won't lessen those types of warranty claims since you'll still have people rotate in the spare not knowing they don't have a sensor and then wondering why they can't get rid of the SERV TPM light.
The federal law does not mandate the spare be monitored, so its just another one of those nickel and dime things. Like the tray in the center console and some other stuff I can't remember right now.
