I have 3 funeral homes, and i can tell you that formaldehyde smells nothing like new car smell, let alone its carcinogenic.
That new car smell your talking about is mostly from all the rubber/plastic/adhesives curing and giving off gas. Baking the car in the sun usually releases more of it, as you can see a slight haze on the inside windows...if you smoke in your car, thats just nocotine
