I was sitting in a Chinese Restraunt the other day having lunch and was listening to a group near me. about 5-6 guys were discusing hybrid vehicles. they sounded like engineers from some forigen company. as they were tallking I caught a couple of them say wait till the vehicle in question hits the market because every 5 years the owner will have to go to the dealer and pay $5000 to replace the batteries! I was just chuckling in my stirfry when I heard this. if you think about the fact a hyrid is going to take as much as 17 years to break even on the extended costs then this should add a few years to that if its true.

And I am sure those batteries will conveniently be excluded from the warranty. Hell my laptop is only a year old and the batteries conked out. Still think its quirky technology at best.
