Default Re: Power seats

Get the part number of the motor and check to see if it may be a generic motor used on allot of GM seats. If nothing else ask a GMC truck place or Chevy and usually they are nice enough to say hey they all use the same motor. Then go to salvage yard. It may be better to just go to a salvage yard first and they can cross check motors. Most of those counter guys know allot of this off the top of their heads.

If you are willing you could take the motor off and just take it to salvage so they can match it. I would pull the seat and just work on learning something new before i would pay that kind of money.

Between Dragon and I my H2 has not seen a dealer since summer of 2005. We have taken it completely apart to customize it which meant 3 paint jobs and going to be the fourth this summer that we found out the h2 is really not as complicated as it appears. At first it looked to be a very opposing deal. Now we just say OK let's take inside out to upgrade whatever. I'm fortunate i do not do as much as the rest of the guys but, I had already been pulling stuff off it and puting it back on before Dragons shop Motor Sports Authority became one of the show H2 sponsors then took over most the work. Dragon let's me go out and get dirty when I feel good enough to which is becoming more often after a 1 1/2 year layoff from even getting to go to the shop.

Well anyway I'm just saying it looks intimidating but jump in and learn something about the rig. They are allot more tame than they appear. The seat harness unplugs and 4 bolts hold seat down. Run the motors and make sure of which one it is and mark before you take it out. We have put power to them even after taking the seat out.

Good Luck,

TAZ
