Interesting points CP. This topic can probably be more heated than abortion
Anyway, if my statement above is taken as though I blame whites for slavery, that was not what I meant. I only meant to say that whites enslaved blacks. That is fact. Im not saying why they did it, if they were right or wrong in doing it, just that it happened. And I intended to use that historical fact as a possib;e reason to the original question of this thread. I dont mean to make the blanket statment about allwhites doing this or all blacks doing that. I only wanted to state that whites enslaved blacks. No other qualification.
Union soldiers died to free blacks. Could be true. I wasnt there. But it makes more sense to me that union soldiers died because their president sent them to war against the southern states who wanted to secede from the union. It was my understanding that a main reson Pres Lincoln issued emmancipation proclimation was to have a way to get another group of men fighting for the north. In this case, slaves. Now, again, Im not a history scholar so I could be wrong. I just think the freeing of the slaves was more of a consequence of the war and not a cause of it to begin.
Back to the original question of this thread, I was responding to the USA racism issue. Blacks sold blacks in africa, but I dont know if the countries where that took place, has issues with blacks being somewhat "allowed' to make racist statements, while their white counterparts cant.
anyway, I do not feel guilty for slavery. I will try to help people if they are in need. it's not our fault, and it is certainly not a black persons fault either. So is it right to have racistist remarks come from one race and not allow it from another? No, but the question was why is this the case. And I attempted to offer an explanationas to why it is the case. No opinion as to whether it is right or not. Thats all.
Enjoy the coffee. And imagine a world where everyone spoke intelligently, acted with kindness, and were generally nice to one another. Wouldnt that be nice.
