They didn't really rise that much, it kinda locked in the depreciation. If you brought a 1992 H1 at $40,000 it would be still worth 20-25,000$ if it was in ok shape today, and thats not bad for a 16 year old vehicle.
The only vehicles that command a premium are the factory slant backs or rarely driven, vehicles that were in storage.
Then again I missed a garaged 97 open top with only 3,700 miles that was sold for $30,000 last year in Newport beach
