I'd advise against using synthetic until you hit 10K miles. The main reason for this is to allow the rings to seat. Synthetic is just too slippery until this process is complete. About 10 years ago, Porsche was installing it in all their cars from the factory, and still is today (Due to a licsensing agreement with Mobil 1). Suddenly, they had numerous cars coming back with engine problems. Porsche dealers now drain the oil before delivery and use standard 10/40.
