Re: Help!!! I've got Supercharger Problems...
Transmission fluid begins breaking down in tempatures above 175 from what I experienced and read. The last time I was out in my non lifted hummer going over sand dunes I decided to try without airing down the tires and The truck took it much harder. The trans tempature went well above 200 so when I got back I replaced the fluid and filter. The truck will go into a shut down mode if the tempature is tooo high but thats too late. The trans fluid is routed thru the radiator and convection takes place so when the engine is hot the trans fluid temp will go up too. I just re-routed the line into a seperate cooler and it will do a better job. There is a word of caution if your living in extreme cold climates I would not recommend this. In this case I would route it from the radiator out line to the external cooler back to the trans.
Fuel rail pressure is going to go up some what because of the change in pumps and regulator. If you want to improve this more go to nelson performance on the web he will give you come computer mods that will give you more. I will stick with the set up I got since I just wanted it for the passing and occasional wind up. LEAN IS DANGEROUS FOR A SUPERCHARGED ENGINE IT WILL CAUSE DETONATION and will eat away at the pistons and valves.
[quote=KANE]Thanks H2R - That was a great tip w/the fuel pressure and was really what made the light go on in my thick head!!!
I've been paying alot of attention to my gauges, especially the trans temp gauge, and while it's not very hot out, it seems to stay around 150*. What do you think is too high, and what temp does yours stay on average.
BTW - I checked the Fuel Pressure yesterday and it was 64psi....a little rich, but I think I'd rather it rich than lean - any opinions?
Here's some pics of it done!
Thanks again!
