It was probably one of my posts. If the chrome is bubbling/flaking on those wheels you absolutly will need to polish the rims after removing the chrome. Those rims are cast aluminum, alot of imputities in the material. Now I have 24" rims, the guy doing them had about 1.5 hours polishing each wheel before powdercoating.
I can take a picture of one of my side hood vents that had far less peeling and didn't get polished. You can see the pot marks through the powedercoating.
Also you are going to loose the fake plastic bolt plugs along the outside of the spokes. There was no way to get them out intact.

My wheels are black now. But I'm going to drill/tap those holes, put some short hex bolts in there painted SOM to tie my body color into the rims.
Your next cluster**** is going to be the center caps are only available in chrome...even on the black mazzis, they give you chrome. A hard chrome shop (not the same as decorative chrome) can dip those center caps and remove all the chrome off the plastic, then you can paint them.
