I tried oven cleaner on them first and it didn't do anything. Since their brand new you can probably get away a self etching primer then paint. If it doesn't hold up, then you can try a more drastic approach.

****, oven cleaner did strip the chrome off, but it left the copper layer under it. Then I took them to the hard chrome shop and were stripped down to bare plastic.
