I had the same reaction, so it's not just me.

Reminded me of partying in college dorms a long time ago....

But maybe this rear lens thing is the next best thing to a backup cam. Obviously there's a significant blind spot directly behind the H3. And very few of us want to carry orange cones in our vehicle and park like a UPS truck.
